Born and bred in Nottingham before moving to Leeds in 1966 to start my working life at “Barnbow” the Battle Tank manufacturing factory in Cross Gates.
I took redundancy before the final closure of the factory and trained to be a volunteer adviser for Citizens Advice Bureau. This I did for the next 15 years and advised thousands of people from all walks of life and hopefully gave them the help and support they needed.
I have lived in Thorner for over 43 years and joined the Parish Council in 2004 as a Councillor and served many years as Chairman, but then, having prematurely retired, I realised that I missed the opportunity to formally continue to contribute towards the well being of the Parish.
Now, given the opportunity to serve again on the Council, and the honour of being Chairman, I will endeavour to give my best to ensure we listen to the voice of each and every one of you and act accordingly.
My hobbies are working on my village allotment/garden, cycling, keeping fit, being an active member on numerous village groups as well as relaxing time going on holidays.
