Northern Gas Networks will be replacing old metallic gas mains with new, more durable plastic mains. The replacement programme is to ensure the continued safe supply of gas to residents homes and businesses for years to come. There will be some traffic management on Church Hill and a road closure on Milner as a result, although the majority of the work will not require traffic management.
A community care officer, Katherine, will visit all affected residents affected by the works with a particular focus on those residents considered vulnerable.
The programme of works around Thorner began this week and is due to last 23 weeks.
There will be two-way traffic lights on Church Hill and a road closure on Milner Lane. If everything goes to plan the traffic lights will be in place for four weeks from 1 February 2019. The closure of Milner Lane will also be for four weeks, commencing 8 March 2019.
All residents affected by the road closure will receive notification via the post and it will show the planned diversion, we will of course maintain access for residents wherever possible.
